The analogy of the year award goes to…
“No. Muslims do not believe that Jesus was the messiah.
Think of it like a movie. The Torah is the first one, and the New Testament is the sequel. Then the Qu’ran comes out, and it retcons the last one like it never happened. There’s still Jesus, but he’s not the main character anymore, and the messiah hasn’t shown up yet.
Jews like the first movie but ignored the sequels. Christians think you need to watch the first two, but the third movie doesn’t count. Muslims think the third one was the best, and Mormons liked the second one so much they started writing fan fiction that doesn’t fit with ANY of the series canon.
Christians and Muslims agree there’s going to be a fourth film at some point and that Jesus will be a main character, but are divided as to what the plot will actually be. Atheists think you’re an idiot for thinking movies are real.”

The 2009 Global Peace Index was recently released and subsequently combined with the World Values Survey. The results reveal a correlation between peacful countries and atheism.
I think the message behind these results is best summed up by a quote from Sam Harris:
Correlational data of this sort does not resolve questions of causality—belief in God may lead to societal dysfunction; societal dysfunction may foster a belief in God; each factor may enable the other; or both may spring from some deeper source of mischief. Leaving aside the issue of cause and effect, however, these statistics prove that atheism is compatible with a civil society; they also prove, conclusively, that widespread belief in God does not ensure a society’s health.
